In the small town of Mountain View, Oklahoma, Deputy Sheriff Jesse Whitfield Morris, a 46-year-old White/Caucasian man, found himself in a fatal confrontation on a December day in 1900. On December 8th, he and another deputy responded to a disturbance call at a residence in the northwestern part of the town. Upon their arrival, they were met with gunfire as three men fled from the house.
