In the quiet, rural community of Unger, Oklahoma, a tragedy unfolded that left a family decimated and a community searching for answers. John W. Golden, a 61-year-old man, his wife Fannie McCoy Golden, 57, and their 28-year-old daughter, Dovie Marie Golden Freeman, were found slain. The family was discovered on June 20, 1961, victims of apparent gun violence.
