Kenneth Dewayne Maxwell, a 24-year-old White/Caucasian male from Tulsa, Oklahoma, was driving through a quiet midtown neighborhood in the early morning darkness of February 22, 2003, when he noticed flames licking at a house on South Yorktown Avenue. Drawn by concern rather than fear, he pulled his Nissan Altima into the street near the burning home and stopped, intent on getting help for whoever might be inside.
