In the small town of Monroe, Oklahoma, Randy Dewayne Shelton, a 54-year-old White/Caucasian man, passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2014. Born in nearby Poteau on September 16, 1959, to Gene and Lena Shelton, Randy was known as a hardworking man dedicated to his family. He spent his career as a maintenance supervisor for OK Foods, a role in which he was well-regarded.
His life was deeply rooted in his community and his family, and his greatest joy was spending time with his grandsons.
Randy's life was marked by both love and loss. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter named RaeLena Shelton, and his two brothers, Bob and Billy Gene Shelton. Despite these hardships, he remained a devoted family man. At the time of his passing, he was survived by his wife, Pam, who lived in their family home in Monroe. His legacy continued through his children, a daughter named Randa and her husband Chris Piovesan of Wister, and another daughter, Annie Brooke, and her husband Jerren Bray of Stigler.
He was a beloved grandfather to John Riley Piovesan and Kolby Micheal Bray. Randy also left behind a large extended family, including his seven sisters: Shirley Webb and Priscilla Harrison of Huntington, Arkansas; Ruth Carnell and Dona Holland of Greenwood, Arkansas; Rebecca Holt of Ardmore, Oklahoma; Minnie Bea Heydenreich of Fort Smith, Arkansas; and Martha Scott of Heavener, Oklahoma. His brother, Carl Shelton of Heavener, also survived him, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a wide circle of friends and loved ones who mourned his passing. His funeral service was held at the Evans Chapel of Memories in Poteau, with interment at Fairview Cemetery in Panama, Oklahoma.
