In the late summer of 2021, a tragic and unexpected event cut short the life of Daniel James Howard Aaron, a 33-year-old man from Midwest City, Oklahoma. On the afternoon of September 12th, while enjoying a motorcycle ride, Aaron was fatally shot in the back. The incident, initially appearing as a sudden and violent crash, soon revealed a more sinister story of conflict and alleged retaliation.
Subsequent investigations into Aaron's death uncovered a narrative rooted in the world of
motorcycle clubs. Authorities came to believe his killing was not a random act of violence, but rather a targeted event stemming from a feud between rival gangs. Aaron was identified as a member of the Pagans Motorcycle Club, and it is alleged that a dispute over territory with the Outlaws Motorcycle Club led to the fatal confrontation on a highway near Harrah.
In the wake of the shooting, law enforcement identified and arrested four individuals with purported ties to the Outlaws. Stephen Roberts and Virgil Nelson were taken into custody and charged with murder in the first degree. Two other men, Larry Ramirez and Connor Bunts, were arrested for accessory to murder after the fact. Court documents suggest that members of the Outlaws confronted Aaron and another individual, which escalated to the fatal shooting. On the same day as Aaron's death, Virgil Nelson, a former president of the Outlaws, reportedly sought medical treatment for a gunshot wound to his leg, though he claimed to be unaware of who shot him.
