In the late summer of 2016, the life of 23-year-old Emily Sue Zanne Morgan, a female and a member of the Choctaw tribe, was tragically cut short. On August 26th, she and her friend, Totinika Elix, were discovered shot to death in a quiet, rural area of Bache, Oklahoma, just outside of McAlester. The two young women were found inside Emily's white Ford Fusion, which was parked in the driveway of a vacant house.
Emily, a mother to a young son, was described by her family as a vibrant and
determined individual. Having become a mother at the age of 16, she was dedicated to providing a good life for her child. Her interests were varied, including softball, cheerleading, and fashion. Originally from Hugo, Oklahoma, she had moved to the Oklahoma City area with aspirations for her future.
The discovery of the two women launched a double homicide investigation led by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation. Law enforcement officials conducted numerous interviews and served multiple search warrants in the initial stages of the probe. Despite these efforts, the case grew cold, and no arrests have been made in connection with the murders of Emily Morgan and Totinika Elix.
In the years following the killings, Emily's mother has been a vocal advocate for justice, working to keep the case in the public eye and urging anyone with information to come forward. A reward has been offered for information that leads to a resolution in the case. The investigation into the deaths of the two young mothers remains ongoing, a painful and unresolved chapter for their families and community.
