On a late summer day, August 26, 2016, the quiet community of Bache, just outside McAlester, Oklahoma, became the scene of a tragic discovery. In the carport of a vacant house, the bodies of two young women were found inside a parked car. One of these women was 24-year-old Totinika Elix, a Black mother of two from Oklahoma City. She was discovered alongside her friend, 23-year-old Emily Morgan. Both women had been fatally shot.
