In the fall of 2016, a violent crime spree across Oklahoma culminated in the death of 38-year-old Michael Dale Vance Jr. A Native American man from Chandler, Vance became the subject of a week-long manhunt after a series of brutal acts that left communities on edge. The tragic chain of events began on October 23, 2016, in Wellston, when officers responded to a call of shots fired. A confrontation with Vance led to two officers being shot and wounded.
