In the late afternoon of September 5, 2023, a heated argument shattered the quiet of a Guthrie, Oklahoma neighborhood, leaving one man dead and a family torn apart. Geronimo Quilimaco, a 39-year-old man, was shot and killed in a wooded area near a residence in the 3200 block of Two Creeks Road. The tragic event unfolded from a family dispute that escalated to fatal violence.
The Logan County Sheriff's Office responded to a distressing 911 call where an argument was audible, and the
caller stated, 'I'm gonna kill you,' followed by the sound of a gunshot. Upon their arrival, deputies discovered Geronimo Quilimaco deceased. The investigation quickly identified his 19-year-old nephew, Jordan Harvey, as the sole suspect.
According to witness statements, the argument between Quilimaco and Harvey turned physical when Quilimaco allegedly slammed his nephew to the ground. In retaliation, Harvey went inside a home and retrieved a shotgun. Despite a witness's attempt to intervene, Harvey managed to get outside with the weapon and fired at his uncle. In the immediate aftermath, Harvey was reportedly heard saying, 'I just shot my uncle, please help him.' Another witness comforted Quilimaco in his final moments.
Jordan Harvey was found walking a short distance from the scene and was taken into custody. He was reportedly intoxicated at the time of his arrest and had difficulty understanding his Miranda Rights. Initially, Harvey was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and held without bond. However, the charge was later reduced to first-degree manslaughter. The Logan County District Attorney stated that based on the specific facts of the case, first-degree manslaughter was the most appropriate charge. In October 2024, Jordan Harvey pleaded guilty to the charge and was sentenced to 25 years in the Department of Corrections, with 13 years suspended.
