In the quiet town of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, the life of 29-year-old Corey Todd, a Black/African American male, was tragically cut short on the evening of April 1, 2017. A shooting incident in a local neighborhood not only claimed Todd's life but also that of 52-year-old Anthony Cooks. A third man, Donte Todd, was critically injured in the violent encounter but survived.
The investigation into the double homicide led to a series of arrests as Okmulgee police worked to bring those responsible
to justice. The first to be apprehended were brothers Isaiah and Victor Wilson, who turned themselves in to authorities and were subsequently charged with the fatal shootings. Their sister, Victoria Wilson, was also taken into custody, facing a charge of being an accessory after the fact.
As the investigation progressed, authorities uncovered efforts to mislead and hinder their work. Two women, 33-year-old Angela Bradford and 23-year-old Precious Thierry, were arrested for providing false statements to the police. Both were charged with accessory after the fact to first-degree murder. Okmulgee Police Chief Joe Prentice stated that their false statements had impeded the investigation, emphasizing that law enforcement is committed to seeking the truth and that lying to the police can lead to criminal charges. The community was left to grapple with the senseless violence that took the lives of two of its members, while the legal process began for the multiple individuals accused of playing a role in the deaths of Corey Todd and Anthony Cooks.
