In May of 2017, a young man's life was cut tragically short in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Kentrael Delontae Anderson, a 19-year-old African American male, was fatally shot in what was described as a drug deal gone awry. Anderson, known to be a caring and hardworking individual with a passion for music and a deep love for his family, was born on August 23, 1997.
The incident that led to his death occurred when Anderson entered a vehicle with two other individuals for the purpose of a marijuana
transaction. During the course of this meeting, he was shot multiple times. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention, Kentrael Anderson succumbed to his injuries a short time later. His official date of death is recorded as May 5, 2017, though some sources also list it as May 17, 2017.
The subsequent investigation into the homicide led Tulsa police to identify and arrest two suspects: Markell Woodard and Donnie Jamison. Both men were initially charged with first-degree murder in connection with Anderson's death. However, as the case proceeded through the legal system, the charges against them were amended.
Markell Woodard ultimately entered a guilty plea to a reduced charge of second-degree murder. As a result of his plea, he was sentenced to serve 40 years in prison. The murder charge against the second suspect, Donnie Jamison, was eventually dropped. Instead, Jamison pleaded guilty to a drug possession charge and received a deferred sentence for his involvement in the events of that day.
