In the early morning hours of May 18, 2017, Vennie Jean Blalock, a 64-year-old Native American woman and a citizen of the Muscogee Nation, was fatally shot in the parking lot of the Sawmill Apartments in east Tulsa, Oklahoma. Known to her loved ones as Jeannie, she was a mother and an energetic grandmother who had a passion for sports.
