On a late summer evening in 2018, the life of 35-year-old Eric Wyman Trammell was tragically cut short. On August 27th, he was found deceased on the side of a road in Choctaw, Oklahoma, having suffered from multiple gunshot wounds. The initial investigation into the male victim's death fell to the Choctaw Police Department, who quickly requested the assistance of the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.
For more than two years, the case remained a primary focus for investigators.
A significant breakthrough came in the form of surveillance video from the area where Trammell's body was discovered. The footage revealed that about 30 minutes prior to his murder, Trammell had a meeting with four individuals who had arrived in the same vehicle. While investigators were able to identify one of the men as Jaylen Brown, the identities of the other three remained elusive. In an effort to generate new leads, the OSBI offered a $5,000 reward for information that would help them identify the other persons of interest.
The reward and persistent investigation eventually paid off. In November of 2020, the OSBI, with assistance from the U.S. Marshals and the Oklahoma City Police Department's Violent Crime Apprehension Team, announced a major development in the case. Three suspects were taken into custody in connection with Trammell's murder: 19-year-old Christopher L. Dawson, 20-year-old Jaylen Williamson, and a 16-year-old juvenile. The fourth suspect, 20-year-old Jaylen Brown, was already incarcerated on charges related to a different murder. Authorities announced that all four individuals were expected to face charges of First Degree Murder.
