On a summer evening in Choctaw, Oklahoma, the life of 18-year-old Armoni Johnson was tragically cut short. Just two days after celebrating his graduation from high school, the young man found himself in a fatal altercation on July 15, 2020. That night, Johnson was being pursued in his vehicle by another man.
During the chase, the pursuing individual, later identified as 25-year-old Maurice McCall, allegedly opened fire on Johnson’s car.
In an attempt to escape the gunfire, Johnson tragically crashed his vehicle into a concrete culvert. The injuries sustained from the crash and the preceding events proved to be fatal for the recent graduate.
Following an investigation into the incident, law enforcement officials identified Maurice McCall as the primary suspect in Johnson's death. In a coordinated effort, authorities located and apprehended McCall, who was reportedly found hiding in a closet in an Edmond residence. He was subsequently arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of Armoni Johnson. McCall was then booked into the Oklahoma County Jail, where he was held without bond.
