In the late summer of 2019, the life of 30-year-old Adam Lawrence Crawford was tragically cut short in what Edmond police described as a double murder-suicide. On Friday, August 30, 2019, Crawford, along with 29-year-old Sarah Semlar, was fatally shot by 43-year-old Scott Garber inside a home in the suburban Oklahoma City community.
The grim events unfolded after a friend of Semlar's contacted authorities to report a disturbance at the residence.
Shortly thereafter, Garber himself called 911, confessing to the shootings of both Crawford and Semlar and stating his intention to take his own life. He also informed the dispatcher that his 11-year-old daughter was present in the house.
Concerned about a potential hostage situation, law enforcement officers attempted to establish contact with someone inside the home. When their efforts were unsuccessful, they made entry and discovered the bodies of Crawford, Semlar, and Garber. The young girl was found physically unharmed amidst the tragic scene. Investigators concluded that Garber was the sole perpetrator, turning the gun on himself after murdering Crawford and Semlar.
Adam Crawford, a lifelong resident of Oklahoma, was remembered as an avid baseball player and a fan of the Boston Red Sox. He had earned an associate degree in Wind Turbine Engineering from OSU OKC and was pursuing a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Central Oklahoma at the time of his death.
