In the summer of 2019, the life of Andrew Sawyer English, a 24-year-old White male from Edmond, Oklahoma, was tragically cut short. On June 27th, he was found deceased in his home, having suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his back. The discovery of his body, which was already in a state of decomposition, marked the beginning of a homicide investigation that would ultimately uncover a story of jealousy and violence.
The investigation into English's death led authorities to George Watson
and Lindsi Mayabb. It was revealed that Watson's rage over a relationship between English and Mayabb was the motive behind the murder. After the crime, the pair fled to Florida in an attempt to evade law enforcement. However, their freedom was short-lived. A tip led investigators to their whereabouts, and a sting operation was orchestrated to apprehend them. Mayabb was confronted through an escort service she was using, and she admitted to her and Watson's involvement in the crime. She disclosed to the police that Watson, enraged by her relationship with English, had threatened to shoot him.
According to Mayabb, Watson had forced her to drive him to English's residence with the explicit intention of killing him. While she remained in the vehicle, Watson approached the house and shot English through a window. Following their capture in Florida, both Watson and Mayabb faced extradition back to Oklahoma to answer for their roles in the murder.
In January of 2021, George Watson accepted a plea deal, resulting in a 35-year prison sentence followed by 10 years of probation. During the court proceedings, he expressed remorse for his actions. Lindsi Mayabb also entered into a plea agreement for the charge of accessory to murder. The resolution of the legal proceedings brought a measure of closure to the family of Andrew Sawyer English, though the pain of their loss remains.
