In the late summer of 2021, the life of 21-year-old Kalob R. Porter, a male from Lawton, Oklahoma, was tragically cut short. On September 8th of that year, Lawton police were called to the scene of a shooting on Northwest 53rd Street. There they found Porter, who had sustained a gunshot wound. He was immediately transported to a local hospital for medical attention.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Porter’s condition worsened, and he was subsequently transferred to the OU
Medical Center in Oklahoma City. He ultimately succumbed to his injuries on September 9, 2021. An investigation into the shooting was launched by the Lawton Police Department.
In the days that followed, law enforcement officials identified a suspect in connection with Porter's death. A warrant was issued for the individual's arrest, and on September 14, 2021, the suspect was apprehended by U.S. Marshals. The investigation suggested that the shooting was not a random act of violence, as the suspect and Porter were believed to have been known to each other.
Kalob, a graduate of Eisenhower High School, was remembered as a loving and caring young man with an infectious smile. He was an avid sports enthusiast, having played basketball, football, and soccer throughout his youth. At the time of his passing, he was eagerly anticipating the birth of his son. His family and friends were left to mourn the sudden and violent loss of a young man who had his whole life ahead of him.
