In the early evening of September 23, 2021, the life of 28-year-old Markeon Harley, a Black/African American male, was tragically cut short at the Towne Square Apartments in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Responding to a call of shots fired around 5:00 p.m. near Apache and Peoria, police discovered Harley in a breezeway of one of the apartment buildings with a gunshot wound to his head.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.
The investigation into Harley's death quickly pointed to a personal dispute rather than a random act of violence. Detectives from the Tulsa Police Department worked diligently to piece together the events that led to the fatal encounter. Their investigation soon identified Tony Baldwin as the primary suspect in the shooting. It is believed that an altercation between Harley and Baldwin escalated, culminating in the deadly shooting.
Following the identification of Baldwin as the suspect, a warrant was issued for his arrest. He was apprehended by law enforcement and subsequently faced serious charges, including first-degree murder and possession of a firearm after a felony conviction. The case then moved into the legal system, where the prosecution would present the evidence gathered against Baldwin in a court of law.
