In the early hours of a Sunday morning in Oklahoma City, the life of 19-year-old Malachi Titus was tragically cut short. On March 6, 2022, the young Black man was the victim of a fatal drive-by shooting that occurred for what appears to be no discernible reason. The incident unfolded after Malachi and a friend, Kenyeah Blonner, had attended an event at the La Bella Event Center.
As they left the venue, their vehicle was followed by a four-door sedan.
The pursuit continued until Blonner's vehicle came to a stop at a red light at the intersection of West Wilshire Boulevard and North Rockwell Avenue. It was at this moment that the suspect's vehicle pulled up alongside them and unleashed a barrage of gunfire. Over 20 rounds were fired into the car, striking both occupants. Malachi Titus, who was in the passenger seat, was hit multiple times and succumbed to his injuries at the scene. His friend, the driver, sustained a gunshot wound to the hand.
Following the shooting, the suspect vehicle fled the scene, heading west through the intersection towards North Council Road. Law enforcement was alerted, and officers later found Malachi deceased inside the vehicle at a convenience store located at 12300 N. MacArthur Blvd. The Oklahoma City Police Department launched an investigation into the homicide and released surveillance footage to the public in the hopes of generating leads.
Despite their efforts and public appeals for information, the case remains unsolved. No arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified in connection with the murder of Malachi Titus. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, leaving a grieving family and community searching for answers and justice. Investigators continue to urge anyone with information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to come forward.
