In the spring of 2022, a welfare check at a westside Oklahoma City apartment led to a grim discovery. On the afternoon of Tuesday, April 26th, police were dispatched to a residence at 5001 N.W. 10th Street. Inside, they found the body of 22-year-old Miguel Alexis Rivera Del Angel. The young Hispanic male appeared to have died from a gunshot wound.
The Oklahoma City Police Department quickly classified the death as a homicide, the 27th in the city for that year.
Investigators began the task of piecing together the events that led to Miguel's untimely death. The initial reports from law enforcement indicated that the investigation was in its early stages.
As of the days following the discovery, no arrests had been made in connection with the shooting. The case remained an open and active investigation.
