In late summer 2022, Patrick Oryan, a 52-year-old man from Oklahoma City, was spending the early hours of Sunday, August 21, near a tent in the 2400 block of South Brookline Avenue when a confrontation unfolded that would end his life. By the time Oklahoma City police officers arrived in response to a report of a shooting, they found him lying near the tent, already dead from a gunshot wound, and would later record the killing as one of the city's homicides for that year.
