In the early morning hours of October 7, 2022, a domestic dispute in a northwest Oklahoma City apartment culminated in the death of 24-year-old Brianne Nicole Torres. A white female, Torres was found by police inside an apartment at 8235 N. Rockwell Avenue, having sustained a fatal gunshot wound. The incident was recorded as the 61st homicide in Oklahoma City for that year.
Responding to a shooting call just after 1:00 a.m., officers discovered Torres's body and immediately took a
suspect into custody at the scene. The individual arrested was 24-year-old Rana Sievert, who was identified as Torres's romantic partner. The initial investigation suggested the shooting stemmed from a domestic altercation between the two women.
Further investigation revealed unsettling details about the events that transpired. Sievert reportedly told authorities that she and Torres had been drinking and smoking marijuana when she became paranoid, leading to a fight. Sievert admitted to retrieving Torres's gun from the bedroom and shooting her once. In a disturbing turn, it was also reported that after the shooting, Sievert attempted to partially dismember Torres's leg with a kitchen knife. It is believed that more than an hour passed before Sievert contacted 911.
Rana Sievert was arrested and booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center. Initially held on a complaint of first-degree manslaughter, the charge was later upgraded to first-degree murder.
