In the quiet, rural landscape of Seminole County, Oklahoma, between the small towns of Sasakwa and Wewoka, a violent encounter on the evening of Sunday, November 6, 2022, left one man dead and another wounded. Russell 'Rusty' Bolen, a 33-year-old resident of Konawa, was fatally shot in an incident that shattered the tranquility of the area. Another man, 52-year-old Robie Watters, also suffered from a gunshot wound but was transported from the scene for medical treatment.

County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call reporting the shooting, and upon arrival, deputies discovered Bolen deceased. Also present at the scene was 46-year-old Daniel Sisco, who admitted to investigators that he was the shooter. Sisco claimed that Bolen and Watters had pointed firearms at him, and in response, he opened fire, striking both men. The sound of numerous gunshots had been heard by nearby residents, with one neighbor recalling what sounded like 30 to 40 rounds from an AR-15-style rifle.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation was called in to lead the inquiry into the deadly shooting. Agents conducted a thorough investigation of the crime scene and interviewed those involved. His sudden death left his family and community in mourning, with funeral services held the following Saturday at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa.
