In the late summer of 2014, the community of Janesville, Wisconsin, was shaken by the tragic death of Hollie Marie Rowan, a 31-year-old Caucasian female. On the morning of August 6, 2014, a distressing call led Janesville police officers to the Rowan residence at approximately 3 a.m., following a report of a husband and wife who had both been stabbed. Upon their arrival, they discovered a grim scene that would soon unfold into a story of domestic violence culminating in a heartbreaking loss of life.
Outside the home, authorities found Hollie's husband, Carl Rowan, a 32-year-old Wisconsin State Patrol trooper, suffering from stab wounds. Inside the residence, Hollie Rowan was found deceased. The subsequent investigation by the Janesville Police Department determined that the incident was a result of a violent argument between the couple. According to police reports, Hollie stabbed her husband and also inflicted stab wounds upon herself during the altercation. After Carl Rowan managed to exit the house, Hollie took her own life with a firearm. The case was not investigated as a homicide, and no arrests were made as authorities concluded that Hollie Rowan's death was a suicide.
Hollie, born on September 22, 1982, in Medford, was a dedicated mother to her two children, Devin and Bella. She was an active and cherished member of her community, known for her volunteer work at Franklin Middle School's PTSA, where she was slated to become Vice President. She was also involved with the Cub Scouts at Washington Elementary School. Her obituary paints a picture of a woman full of life and love for her family, with passions that included horses, gardening, cooking, and remodeling. Her children and family were described as the center of her world. A celebration of her life was held for friends and family to remember the vibrant woman they had lost.
