In the late evening hours of Friday, August 21, 2015, the life of 35-year-old Luis Santiago was tragically cut short in an alley near 31st and National in Milwaukee. His death marked a grim milestone for the city, as he became its 100th homicide victim of the year. The events leading to the fatal shooting began to unfold just after 7:00 p.m. when Santiago was approached by a group of three to five men.
