In the early morning hours of October 10, 2025, the life of Chazz Toney, a 35-year-old Black male, was tragically cut short in Duluth, Minnesota. Just after midnight, at approximately 12:25 a.m., Duluth Police responded to reports of gunfire in the Central Hillside neighborhood. Arriving at the 200 block of West 3rd Street, officers discovered a man who had sustained an apparent gunshot wound and was deceased at the scene.
Authorities later identified the victim as Chazz Toney, and his
death was officially ruled a homicide. The initial stages of the investigation were focused on processing the scene and identifying the victim. As the investigation unfolded in the days that followed, the Duluth Police Department confirmed that the case remained active and ongoing.
As of the latest reports, no arrests have been made in connection with Toney's death, and police have not publicly identified any suspects or disclosed a potential motive for the shooting. Investigators have made a public appeal for assistance, urging residents and businesses in the area of the shooting to review any surveillance camera footage from the late hours of October 9 into the early morning of October 10. The Duluth Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit continues to lead the investigation, seeking any information that could help piece together the events that led to the fatal shooting.
