On a tragic Memorial Day weekend in 2017, the life of Jeffrey R. Horton, a 31-year-old Black/African American male, was cut short by gun violence in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. On the evening of May 28th, at approximately 9:30 p.m., Horton was in the 4700 block of N. Hopkins Street when he was fatally shot. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but ultimately succumbed to his injuries, becoming one of several victims of a particularly violent holiday weekend in the city.
