The Fox Valley Metro Police Department investigated the deaths and concluded that Greg Colon shot and killed his wife before turning the gun on himself. Authorities confirmed they were not searching for any other suspects in connection with the case.

Her family and friends recalled her as a great cook, a peacemaker, and someone who deeply loved her family and friends. In the wake of her death, donations were collected to benefit a local domestic violence program, honoring her memory by helping others who might be in similar situations.
