A pillar of his community, 58-year-old Connie E. Jackson, a Black/African American man, had spent over two decades as the proud owner of a Milwaukee bar. His establishment, Uncle Bo's Penthouse, located at 12th and Wright, was a familiar spot for many. In the early morning hours of January 29, 2021, after closing up for the night around 2 a.m., Jackson began his usual drive home, a routine journey that would tragically be his last.
Just a block from the safety of his residence, near 22nd
and Melvina, it is believed that Jackson was accosted by an unknown individual. Authorities suspect the encounter may have been an attempted robbery. In an effort to escape the dangerous situation, Jackson drove away. It was then that the suspect opened fire on his truck. A single bullet struck Jackson, causing him to lose control of his vehicle and crash. He succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The sudden and violent death of a man described by police as a random and unsuspecting victim left his family and the community in shock. He was not known to be involved in any activities that would precipitate such an attack. In the wake of his death, legal proceedings to manage his estate were initiated in February 2021.
Despite the ongoing investigation into his homicide, public records have not revealed any information regarding arrests or the identification of any suspects.
