Antoine Marquette Linyard, a 41-year-old Black / African American male, was shot and killed on the evening of Monday, March 22, 2021. The fatal incident occurred just after 10 p.m. near the intersection of 37th and Wright Street. Remembered by loved ones as a loving brother, son, and father, his sudden death left a void in the hearts of his family and friends.
In the days that followed, those who knew and
loved Antoine gathered to honor his memory. A vigil was held on the city's north side where dozens came together, their collective grief a somber testament to the man they had lost. Amidst their sorrow, there were impassioned calls for an end to the gun violence that had claimed yet another life in their community. The pain of his absence was palpable as family and friends shared memories and comforted one another.
