Melchizedek Woods, a 24-year-old Black / African American male, was found deceased in his Milwaukee, Wisconsin duplex on April 16, 2021. His death followed a tumultuous period that began just two days earlier. On April 14, Woods' twin brother was shot in the leg during an altercation at Harriet Tubman Park, also known as Wahl Park. The fight reportedly broke out between the brothers' girlfriends before escalating to gunfire.
After this incident, no one heard from Melchizedek for two days.
Concerned by the lack of contact, his family was met with a tragic discovery. Woods was found in his residence on 48th and Meinecke, having been fatally shot. The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office later confirmed that he died from multiple gunshot wounds, and his death was officially ruled a homicide. Investigators from the Milwaukee Police Department found signs of forced entry at his duplex, suggesting he may have been targeted.
In the wake of his death, Woods' family has been persistent in their pleas for justice. His mother has spoken publicly about the immense pain of losing one of her twin sons, leaving a void filled only with memories. Despite the efforts of law enforcement and a reward offered by Milwaukee Crime Stoppers for information, the case has grown cold. No arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified in connection with the homicide. The investigation remains open as authorities continue to seek leads that could bring closure to a grieving family.
