In the spring of 2021, a sense of unease settled over an apartment building on West Fond Du Lac Avenue in Milwaukee. On the afternoon of May 28th, a neighbor noticed that the door to 62-year-old Levi Williams' apartment was slightly ajar. A check on his well-being led to a grim discovery. Inside his home, the man, a father and brother, was found dead, the victim of a fatal shooting.
Milwaukee police detectives began an investigation into the death of the male victim, working to piece
together the events that led to the violence. It was determined that Williams had been gunned down at approximately 1:30 in the afternoon. Despite the apartment building having 24 units, a startling fact emerged during the initial canvassing of the area: no one had called the police to report the sound of gunshots.
In the weeks that followed, law enforcement continued to search for answers. Investigators learned that some neighbors had indeed heard the shots but did not alert the authorities at the time. With no immediate suspects or arrests, the Milwaukee Police Department sought help from the public, urging anyone with information regarding the death of Levi Williams to come forward. The case was highlighted as a Crime Stoppers "Crime of the Week" in an effort to generate leads. Despite these efforts, information regarding any suspects or arrests in the shooting death of Levi Williams has not been publicly released.
