Arnez Rodgers, a 31-year-old Black male, was fatally shot on the night of August 23, 2021, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The incident was one of four deadly shootings that occurred in the city on that same day. A father of four and engaged to be married, Rodgers had recently welcomed a new baby. He maintained a close relationship with his mother, speaking with her daily.
The shooting took place in an alley near 36th and Hadley.
According to police reports, there were multiple shooters involved in the attack. One of the assailants used a high-powered, fully automatic weapon to gun down Rodgers. After hearing the gunfire, people in the vicinity called 911 and came to Rodgers' aid.
Despite the incident being partially captured on video, detectives have not been able to determine the motive behind the shooting. Law enforcement officials have made a public appeal for witnesses to come forward with any information that might lead to the identification and apprehension of the individuals responsible for his death. As of late 2023, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified in connection with the murder of Arnez Rodgers. The investigation remains ongoing as his family continues to seek justice.
