She was found deceased by police on September 7, 2021, after she failed to show up for her job at Domino Amjet of Gurnee, Illinois. An investigation quickly determined that her death was a homicide caused by a single gunshot wound to the chest.
In the wake of this devastating discovery, a person of interest was identified by law enforcement: 52-year-old Roberto Andino. The nature of their relationship remains somewhat unclear, with some neighbors describing him as an ex-boyfriend, while family members assert that he was a man she had met at a bar who subsequently began stalking her. It became evident that Janine had grown fearful of Andino, having sent a chilling text to a friend stating that if anything were to happen to her, the police should investigate him. Her 2021 Kia and a firearm were also missing from her residence.
