In October of 2021, Mallery Muenzenberger, a 25-year-old Caucasian female, was found deceased in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Her death would unravel a grim series of events that also involved her young son. On October 14, 2021, Mallery's body was discovered in the backyard of a residence on the 2600 block of North 37th Street. It was determined that she had died from multiple gunshot wounds.
The initial discovery of her body did not immediately lead to the realization that her three-year-old son, Major Harris, was missing. It was not until two days later, on October 16, that she was officially identified, and an Amber Alert was issued for her son.
The investigation into Mallery's homicide quickly identified a person of interest: 20-year-old Jaheem Clark. Clark was described as an acquaintance of Mallery. When law enforcement officers arrived at his residence on the 5400 block of North 41st Street to question him, they heard gunshots from inside. Upon entering the home, they found Clark deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Police confirmed that they did not discharge their weapons during the incident. Evidence gathered at the scene of Mallery's death and from her recovered vehicle, a black Chevy Equinox which contained blood evidence, pointed to Clark's involvement.
The search for young Major Harris continued for several days, drawing significant media attention and community concern. Tragically, on October 21, 2021, Major's body was found in a container near some garbage cans on North 35th Street and West Rohr Avenue. An autopsy later revealed that he had died from a gunshot wound to the head. The discovery of his body was reportedly aided by a witness who was granted full immunity in exchange for information on his location.
In the course of the investigation into Mallery's murder, authorities made six arrests. However, four of those individuals were subsequently released from custody. Two men, aged twenty-one and twenty-nine, remained in custody, though their identities were not publicly disclosed. Despite Jaheem Clark's death prior to being formally charged, law enforcement officials have stated they are satisfied that he was responsible for the deaths of both Mallery Muenzenberger and her son, Major Harris, before taking his own life. The tragic case has been described as an act of domestic violence.
