In the spring of 2022, a young Black / African American man's life was cut short in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Azarion V. Waits, a 20-year-old male, was killed on Sunday, May 1, 2022, following a dispute that escalated into gunfire. The incident unfolded in the afternoon near the intersection of 15th and Burleigh streets.
According to police reports, an argument broke out between two individuals, leading to an exchange of gunfire. When the violence subsided, Azarion V.
Waits was found at the scene, having sustained fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the location. The altercation also resulted in injuries to a 24-year-old Milwaukee man.
In connection with the shooting, the injured 24-year-old man was taken to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Following his treatment, he was arrested by the Milwaukee police. Authorities announced their intention to refer the case against the suspect to the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office for review and potential charges.
