In the late hours of May 13, 2022, a burst of gunfire shattered the night in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, leaving 30-year-old Lee Holton, a male, dead. The incident unfolded near the intersection of Vel R. Phillips Avenue and West Vienna Avenue, a scene that would soon be swarmed by police investigators. Holton was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds, and despite the efforts of first responders, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The investigation into Holton's death quickly pointed
to a suspect. Within days, an arrest warrant was issued for Cameryn D. Davis-Taylor in connection with the fatal shooting. The U.S. Marshals adopted the case to locate and apprehend him. The search for Davis-Taylor spanned several months, culminating in his arrest in September of the same year. He was found in the 3100 block of North 37th Street and taken into custody without incident.
Following his arrest, Cameryn D. Davis-Taylor was charged with first-degree reckless homicide and possession of a firearm by a felon. According to the criminal complaint, the shooting stemmed from an argument between two women that escalated. Witnesses reported that during the altercation, a man, later identified as Davis-Taylor, retrieved a firearm from a vehicle and began shooting. Lee Holton, who was present at the scene, was struck by the gunfire. Surveillance footage from the area captured the chaotic moments of the shooting and showed a vehicle fleeing the scene, which was later traced back to Davis-Taylor. His criminal history includes a prior felony conviction for armed robbery in 2017, which legally prohibited him from possessing a firearm.
