On July 14, 2022, she and her 19-year-old daughter, La'Dasia Porter, were shot and killed inside a residence near West Ring and North 6th streets. The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed the identities of the mother and daughter.

Family members believe that La'Dasia was attempting to protect her mother during the altercation that led to their deaths. The incident was part of a string of domestic violence-related homicides that claimed the lives of six women of color in Milwaukee County over a two-week period, all of whom died by gunfire.
