Mary B. Beamon, a 34-year-old woman from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, tragically lost her life on December 7, 2022. According to reports, Mary was visiting a friend's house for dinner when an argument ensued, leading to her untimely death. The incident occurred near 19th and Wright streets in Milwaukee. Prosecutors revealed that a joke escalated into violence, resulting in Mary being shot three times by her friend, Lenzie Jaster.
Lenzie Jaster, who was 41 years old at the time, was arrested shortly after the incident. He called 911 and confessed to the shooting, stating that he wanted Mary to leave his house. Despite his admission, the act of violence shocked the community and left Mary's family devastated. Jaster was charged with first-degree intentional homicide.
The legal proceedings that followed saw Jaster being convicted of first-degree intentional homicide. During the trial, it was revealed that Jaster had a lengthy criminal history, primarily involving female victims close to him. The judge in the case, Ellen R. Brostrom, emphasized that the justice system had failed to protect Mary from Jaster, who had previously been arrested and charged multiple times since 2004. On April 29, 2024, Jaster was sentenced to life in prison, with the possibility of applying for extended supervision in 2067.
