On a tragic evening in Spokane Valley, Washington, on November 1, 2014, Juan De Rios Rodriguez-Gallegos, a 44-year-old Hispanic male, was killed in a violent encounter that also claimed the life of his brother, 53-year-old Arturo M. Gallegos. The double homicide occurred around 9:30 p.m. at the Broadway Square Apartments, shattering the peace of the community. The initial investigation by the Spokane County Sheriff's Office left neighbors worried as the suspect remained at large.
