Jose Silva, a 23-year-old Hispanic male, was found deceased on January 6, 2015, in Yakima, Washington. His body was discovered by a cable technician behind a vacant home on Mahre Road. An autopsy later confirmed that Silva had died from multiple gunshot wounds. Further examination revealed that he had been shot in the head and chest. The investigation into his death was handled by the Yakima County Sheriff's Office.
During the course of their investigation, detectives uncovered evidence
suggesting that the homicide was gang-related, as Silva was known to have associations with local gangs. The inquiry led to the identification of suspects, and arrests were subsequently made. One of the individuals taken into custody was 23-year-old Walter Garcia. Evidence connecting Garcia to the crime reportedly included the discovery of clothing belonging to Silva at Garcia's residence.
In addition to Garcia, a second suspect, a 30-year-old man, was also arrested in connection with Silva's murder. While the motive was strongly suspected to be tied to gang activities, law enforcement continued to piece together the specific circumstances that led to the fatal shooting. The arrests brought some measure of progress to a case that had deeply affected Silva's family, which included his wife, daughter, parents, and siblings.
