In the early hours of Sunday, February 22, 2026, the city of Yakima, Washington, was rattled by a shooting that claimed the life of 16-year-old Jesus Rangel Magallon. The incident, which unfolded in the 400 block of North 5th Avenue, also left two other teenagers, a 16-year-old male and a 17-year-old female, in critical condition. This violent act marked the first homicide of the year in Yakima County.
