Harold Howell, a 62-year-old retired Army veteran and former Chicago Transit Authority worker, was the victim of a brutal home invasion that led to his death. On April 8, 2012, Howell was found beaten in his apartment at the Evergreen Towers II, a senior housing facility in the Old Town neighborhood of Chicago.
