In the early hours of a Sunday morning in November 2016, the life of John Barrett, a 51-year-old male, was tragically cut short in a downtown Yakima parking lot. On November 6, 2016, Barrett was found with a gunshot wound and, despite the efforts of those who came to his aid, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The incident marked a grim milestone as the eleventh homicide in Yakima that year.
