Sheriff, John Root. During the call, Scoville informed the sheriff of his intentions and his location. He was in a vacant lot near a former lumber company. After the call, law enforcement and emergency services were dispatched to the scene.
Upon their arrival, they found Scoville with a gunshot wound. Medical personnel provided treatment at the scene before transporting him to Saint Joseph Hospital — London, where he was pronounced dead. The authorities reported finding a handgun at the location. Friends and colleagues expressed their shock and sorrow, stating that they had not observed any signs of distress in Scoville prior to his death. He was remembered as a prominent attorney and a significant figure in local Republican politics.
