Quiltavia Patterson, 25, was tragically killed in a drive-by shooting in Chicago’s West Pullman neighborhood on September 25, 2012. Patterson was walking home from a family gathering with her sister when gunfire erupted from a passing vehicle, striking her and three others. Patterson died at the scene, along with Jermaine Carter, a local resident. Her sister and another man were seriously injured.
A mother of twins and an aspiring rapper, Patterson had recently moved to Springfield to escape Chicago’s violence. Despite efforts to bring those responsible to justice, no arrests were made at the time.
