In the late afternoon of a spring day in Louisville, Kentucky, the life of 25-year-old Ashton Michael Thomas was tragically cut short. On April 26, 2017, gunshots echoed near the intersection of Cecil Avenue and West Broadway in the Shawnee neighborhood, a sound that would soon be followed by the discovery of Thomas's body. He was found in the front yard of a vacant home, having sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the chest.
