In the early morning hours of Wednesday, June 7, 2017, the community of Corbin, Kentucky, was shaken by a violent incident that resulted in the deaths of two men. Denver Nicely, a 47-year-old male, was found deceased inside a home on Fred Nash Lane. Alongside him was 28-year-old Joshua C. Wernicke of Keavy, who had also been fatally shot. The discovery was made after Kentucky State Police were dispatched to the residence around 2:30 a.m. following a report of a possible shooting.
