In the early morning hours, the discovery of a body behind the Lake Shore Center shopping center in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, began to unravel a tragic story. The deceased was identified as 26-year-old male, Anthony Gullotto of Radcliff. An autopsy would later confirm that Gullotto had died from multiple gunshot wounds, turning a grim discovery into a homicide investigation.
The investigation quickly led Elizabethtown police to a suspect, 20-year-old Austen Green of Elizabethtown.
Upon questioning, Green admitted to shooting Gullotto. He claimed that the two were behind the shopping center when Gullotto attempted to punch and rob him. In response, Green stated he drew a handgun and fired at Gullotto four times.
After the shooting, Green fled the scene, discarding the firearm from his vehicle. In a chilling confession, he told police that he later returned to the location to ensure Gullotto was dead. Before leaving for a second time, he collected the spent shell casings from the area.
Based on his admission, Austen Green was arrested and faced charges of murder and tampering with physical evidence. He was subsequently lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center. The case marked the first homicide in Elizabethtown for that year.
