In the summer of 2018, a Sunday afternoon in the Jacobs neighborhood of Louisville, Kentucky, turned tragic. On July 22nd, 31-year-old Terry R. Spurling Jr., a Black male, was in the parking lot of the Manslick Food Mart in the 3700 block of Manslick Road. It was there, at approximately 3:30 p.m., that the violence erupted. Spurling was shot, sustaining a critical gunshot wound.
